Julep Maven: April 2013 Classic with a Twist (Avery, Jackie) Swatches

I veered away from It Girl this month because I only liked 2 out of 3 of the colors.  Instead, I opted for Classic with a Twist, because I liked both colors and I wanted to try the cuticle serum.  And then I added on the 2 colors from It Girl that I did like, haha.  I'm quite happy with these colors because I don't really have brights and these will be great for the summer season.

Classic with a Twist came with 2 polishes and the Nail and Cuticle Serum, plus a rock candy lollipop as an extra little something.  The 2 polishes in my box are Avery and Jackie, both cremes and both seem perfect for the upcoming summer!

Avery is a hot pink creme that reminds me of Barbie!  This is quite bright and perfect for the summer.  Application was smooth, and I used 3 coats for the swatch below.  Avery dries to a wax finish, so I used 1 coat of Seche Vite to add shine.

Jackie is a Maraschino cherry red crelly.  I love this one!  It's my new favorite red!  This one applied like a dream.  It was so smooth and easy!  You can get away with 1 coat, but I applied 2 coats in the swatch below.  I didn't use a top coat this time.  It's so squishy looking on its own, I didn't think it needed it.

The boxes this month (except It Girl) also came with a Nail and Cuticle Serum.  My first impression was that it had nice, sleek looking packaging.  I'm excited to try this serum!  My hands and cuticles are always dry.  It will be interesting to see if this will do anything for my cuticles.  I'm going to follow the exact directions and I'll report back with a full review in a couple of weeks!
